I rated this book 5/5 stars.
Ms. Colleen Hoover has done it again! This book is so engaging from the very first page. This book follows Graham and Quinn as they meet under unfortunate circumstances. It alternates between past and present chapters labeled then and now as both characters begin to fall in love and the now chapters are them fighting for their marriage. There is a major trigger warning for fertility issues, so If that is a hard topic to read about then I highly advise you to skip this book. I really enjoyed watching both Graham and Quinn falling in love with each other. I think Colleen added depth to the story by also following the characters into years of marriage because most romance books end after the characters fall in love and get married. This book has great representation of how you can love someone, but you have to actively fight for more than love for a marriage to work. It was truly heartbreaking and invigorating to read what these characters had to go through and the love that they had for each other was honestly insightful. Lets focus on Graham for a quick moment. The love Graham had for Quinn would make anyone want a Graham for themselves. By no means was Graham a perfect character, but he had so many qualities of a man that genuinely wanted to fight for his marriage through the bad and the ugly. This book truly revolved around Graham and Quinn’s journey. Some books can focus too much on other character, but Graham and Quinn were at the forefront of this story. As the reader we got to experience the happy, sad, ugly, and emotional moments of this marriage and relationship and I think Colleen nailed it. I highly recommend you pick up this book if you want a painful yet inspiring read.

I gave this book 5/5 stars and I listened via audio.
My Summary: Instructions for Dancing by Nicola Yoon is a young adult contemporary novel. Our main protagonist Evie Thomas has stopped believing in love ever since her mom and dad got a divorce. One day while she is taking her romance books to the library, she meets a woman who gives her a book called, you guessed it, “Instructions For Dancing.” After this encounter, Evie is able to see a couple's entire relationship when they kiss. How does this effect Evie's view on love and relationships? Read the book to find out! *Spoiler Free Review* I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I’ve come to realize that I have some pessimistic thoughts when it comes to relationships and the whole falling in love orderly just like our main character. This is a very short and quick read when you want something light but also makes you think. Eventually all relationships come to an end whether it's a messy breakup or someone dies. While you're in the relationship and experiencing the honeymoon phase, it feels like you will never not be with that person, but that’s not always the case. Reading Evie's character development throughout the book may even correlate with other people's views on love. While this is a young adult book, I believe even adults can read it and take something away from it. I highly encourage you to pick this book up and let me know what you thought of it. GoodReads Synospis: In this romantic page-turner from the author of Everything, Everything and The Sun is Also a Star, Evie has the power to see other people's romantic fates--what will happen when she finally sees her own? Evie Thomas doesn't believe in love anymore. Especially after the strangest thing occurs one otherwise ordinary afternoon: She witnesses a couple kiss and is overcome with a vision of how their romance began . . . and how it will end. After all, even the greatest love stories end with a broken heart, eventually. As Evie tries to understand why this is happening, she finds herself at La Brea Dance Studio, learning to waltz, fox-trot, and tango with a boy named X. X is everything that Evie is not: adventurous, passionate, daring. His philosophy is to say yes to everything--including entering a ballroom dance competition with a girl he's only just met. Falling for X is definitely not what Evie had in mind. If her visions of heartbreak have taught her anything, it's that no one escapes love unscathed. But as she and X dance around and toward each other, Evie is forced to question all she thought she knew about life and love. In the end, is love worth the risk? |
